Sally\u2019s a bored young woman working a meaningless job at her sister\u2019s business. She\u2019s eager to break away, go out on her own, see the world. After all, her mother and her sister have always been overprotective. Sally wants more–until she gets what she wants, in a very unexpected way. Now, she\u2019d love to say \u201cno thank you\u201d to the adventure, but that\u2019s no longer an option.<\/p>\n

Nightlock<\/em> is clearly a thriller. The action starts early in the book and does not let up. I can\u2019t really say a lot about the story without giving spoilers, but I can say this: twists that I didn\u2019t anticipate kept coming, almost to the very last page. The very last paragraph. The very last sentence. Once I got into it, I had a hard time putting it down, and I loved it all.<\/p>\n

Everything except the epilogue is told through the POV of main character Sally, a relatable character whose mind is full of snarky commentary, which I loved. Even when she\u2019s under fire, her brain never shuts up. She\u2019s a reluctant yet feisty hero you can really root for. Every time she was at risk, I\u2019d be biting my nails, and more than once I read way past my bedtime.<\/p>\n

Nightlock<\/em>\u00a0is apparently the first book in a series, featuring Sally as the main character. I say bring it. The next book, Deadlock<\/em>, is due out in April of 2025, and I\u2019ll be watching.<\/p>\n
